Balto Farms in Boulder Colorado

We get a lot of questions about what we do on the farm ! A lot!!!! This is a passion and love and besides taking care of our large family and our regular jobs, the farm is a “hobby” that we love and that we are super passionate about .

In the Summer, our lavender fields are in bloom with over 800 plants starting in about Late June through early August. We sell dried lavender and fresh bundles at our road side honor system Farm Stand located at Arapahoe and WillowGlen. We also fire up our copper stills and produce as much essential oil and hydrofoil as we can crank out. I then produce a full array of natural skin care products using our herbs and essential oils such as soap , lotions and oils.

In the Fall and Spring we prep our fields for growing flowers. this includes plowing, tilling and adding compost. Spring is the big planting season and our fields should be prepped and ready for seeds by May 1. We grow fields of Zinnias and Sunflowers and host “ pick your own” in our fields all summer until the first freeze.

We also tend to bee hives and have some of the best honey in Colorado ( in my opinion)

There is nothing better than walking through our fields and cutting flowers and seeing the fields alive with bees doing their thing.

I laos have a much loved herd of alpaca that produce amazing fiber. in June, they are sheared and the fibers sent to a variety of mills to be made into yarns, roving, mittens, socks and hats. there is nothing better than caring for my herd all year than to be rewarded with a fluffy warm pair of socks and mittens each winter .

We open the farm up for events and special occasions and have a small Barn Farm Store on site full of local goods romr amazing Boulder artisans as well as all of our honey, lavender and wool products. We are also open by appointment so if you are looking for a special and unique gift, give me a call and hop by to shop.
